The Central Association of the German Advertising Industry (ZAW) has criticized the current considerations on the reform of the State Treaty on Gambling and has called for the creation of coherent regulation for gambling advertising in order to ensure fair competition. The ZAW criticizes that the The decisions of the prime ministers from October and December 2016 are limited to selective changes in the sports betting licensing system, instead of undertaking a fundamental reform of the gambling regulation, in particular the advertising regulations. The current regulation already leads to numerous legal uncertainties, which causes economic imponderables for the gambling providers. The planned changes could further aggravate this precarious situation.
