As Optimal Payments Plc (OPAY) already announced in a press release on March 23, 2015, an agreement was reached with shareholders of the Skrill Group to buy the service provider Skrill with an enterprise value of EUR 1,1 billion take over.

Skrill is one of the leading companies in Europe for digital payments, online payment processing and one of the largest online prepaid voucher providers with its paysafecard brand.

Of course, the takeover is opposed to a number of official approvals and approvals (OPAY shareholders) that have to be fulfilled.

Skrill and Neteller should both be big enough by now to make a decent living.
But if the number 1 and 2 of the gambling e-wallet providers in Europe (I'll leave PayPal out there...) want to merge - then the subsequent lack of competitive pressure means for the customers in general nothing good...
I already find some of the deposit and withdrawal fees, but especially the currency conversion fees, to be borderline.

What I specifically meant by advantage was the alignment in terms of limits/fees for withdrawals from ATMs etc. On the other hand, this also depends on the personal VIP status of the respective account.

In principle, fees of any kind are always felt to be too high and sometimes you just have to accept them. But that also depends on the status in this case.

I agree with you that the merger of two companies can certainly lead to a monopoly position and thus the competitive pressure is eliminated. It will not be the case that Skrill will no longer be available as a provider, but both fees and limits, as well as the availability in some casinos, could be adjusted. Perhaps both companies will be continued in the same way as before, internal competition as it were, we shall see.
