I wasn't aware of it or that I had read it. There are always different opinions about it, either from webmasters themselves for some partnership reasons or from frustrated players (mostly individual cases). I don't know why they are/were not so popular, maybe you can report more precisely?

I had only read that a lot back then.. But I think that was in other forums. And in the end - as so often - it turned out to be "player's fault". But you know that. If you are denied a payout for using the 342nd account () created there, then the collective screaming is great at first.
