Post Trust and distrust of affiliate programs and casinos

About cooperation, transparency and trust in affiliate programs!

Anyone who is active in this business is also inevitably involved with the partner programs and marketing companies online casinos tied together. There is a partnership, although “partnership” isn’t quite the right word. A partnership is based on mutual trust and each party should actually have equal rights and be treated fairly. At least that's the theory, but there is only a collaboration between these companies and us as webmasters.

We advertise for them online casinos and receive a commission for it. The companies therefore use some software companies with well-known names, such as Netrefer, MyAffiliates, Mexos, Almore, Income Access or even specially developed software. We are also happy to rely on companies that offer a complete solution and provide the platform. This software then ensures that referred customers are listed (tracked) and that the webmasters participate in the customer's sales, i.e. receive a commission for it, which varies and is calculated according to certain criteria.

To put it bluntly, a customer wins, the affiliate deserves nothing. If a customer loses, a percentage commission is paid depending on sales, but this can change over the course of the month if a customer wins or loses several times in the month. It depends on the overall result of each individual customer whether you get a commission or not.

The customer has no disadvantages at all and it doesn't cost him anything, on the contrary. In the event of a problem, webmasters can provide support and provide clarity.

There is nothing wrong with that, because operating such platforms not only costs time and effort but also money. Being an affiliate is therefore very tedious and not always successful.

Unfortunately, as webmasters we only have limited insight into the numbers and sales. In addition to clicks and activity, a maximum of customer deposits and withdrawals are displayed, but not for everyone. In principle, fees are not listed because they are usually already included in the figures, which are then made visible to us as net revenue or earnings.

Can you trust the affiliate programs?

Unfortunately, we have no control over the numbers presented to us. We can either trust it or not. However, trust is a problem, because there can be inconsistencies that you sometimes cannot understand.

This can also lead to mistrust very quickly. There would have to be a control committee that would make it impossible to change tracked customers and numbers manually in between or even afterwards. And that ultimately means the casinos, because that's where the numbers come from and can also be changed.

This means there are several people who could influence numbers. There is simply no transparency in the partner programs and that leaves enough room for manipulation and mistrust. Of course no one wants to hear that, but the fact is, we have no control because everything is controlled one-sidedly.

Imagine if they were forced to list all the numbers for us at 100%. That would cause a lot of surprise and anger. And now everyone who thinks they are being honest is screaming. Many programs, i.e. the numbers, also come from the game manufacturers themselves, which creates another aspect when dealing with numbers and influencing.

You can no longer rely on the word alone; there have been too many inconsistencies in recent years. In some cases, corrections were only made if people were made aware of them, because they might happen to know a player for whom the numbers were changed negatively, but when they asked the player something completely different came out.

You don't know 99% of your own players and are therefore exposed to the influence of the casinos. They see the possible customers and potential first and can act accordingly.
There are certainly casinos or programs that deal with this absolutely honestly, but there is still some residual doubt, especially when you notice differences.

What can we do as an affiliate?

Not much, to be honest, except that we have to keep affiliates together, share problems with each other and raise awareness of possible grievances. And of course also report on public platforms.

AW: Trust and distrust of affiliate programs and casinos

Very good article, but experience says that German affiliates in particular are very reluctant to move around the net. Quite the contrary to the foreign affiliates who are very open about their business. It is often the case that only one's own interests are pursued and one sometimes accepts one or the other. As in any other profession, as long as the people don't stick together, the providers can do whatever they want.
